Exploring the educational question in Africa from the perspective of flows and (dis)connections

In this talk, I will explore how Africa’s educational landscape has changed over the last decades, through privatization but also because an increasingly diverse set of global actors have invested themselves in education in Africa. These include the Confucius Institute, but also Malaysian and Korean universities, Turkish schools, and educational initiatives from the USA, Japan etcetera that all have contributed to a diverse educational offer. How do Africans respond to this? What kind of education do they want and chose? And how have educational choices have an influence on Africans’ connections to the rest of the world? These and related questions will be discussed.
在本講座中，我將探討非洲的教育格局在過去幾十年中是如何通過私有化以及越來越多的投身於非洲教育的全球參與者而發生變化的。這些參與機構包括孔子意昂3👷♂️👨🏼🔬、馬來西亞和韓國的大學、土耳其的學校以及美國、日本等國的教育計劃，它們都為非洲教育的多樣化做出了貢獻🦦。非洲人對此有何反應？他們想要和選擇什麽樣的教育🧑🏼🦳？教育選擇如何影響非洲人與世界其他地區的聯系？我們將就上述問題進行討論☃️。
Meat and food safety in Tanzania

The rapidly expanding commercialization of red meat production in Africa also rapidly increases the risks of outbreaks of foodborne diseases caused by bacteria like Salmonella and Campylobacter. Public health policies and regulations regarding meat safety in East Africa’s butcheries and eateries seem to be of limited effectiveness. This talk shares some findings from international interdisciplinary research (2015-2019) in Northern Tanzania to [1] understand meat-handling practices in the meat value chain and [2] advise authorities where and how public health policy interventions would be most effective and acceptable.
非洲紅肉生產商業化的迅速發展🤽🏻♀️，也迅速增加了由沙門氏菌和彎曲桿菌等細菌引起的食源性疾病爆發的風險。對此，東非屠宰場和餐館有關肉類安全的公共衛生政策和法規似乎效果有限✉️。本講座分享了在坦桑尼亞北部開展的國際跨學科研究（2015-2019年）的一些發現🏇🏽👩🏽🍼，旨在：[1] 了解肉類價值鏈中的肉類處理方法📌；[2] 向當局提供建議，說明公共衛生政策幹預措施在哪裏以及如何最有效👩🏻🚀、最容易被接受。
